What "Pop The Ballon Guy" Taught Me About Black America
What "Pop The Ballon Guy" Taught Me About Black America...
Description:
In this video, we dive into the viral sensation of the "Pop the Balloon Guy," a plumber who gained overnight fame but allegedly lost his job after appearing on a dating show. While the internet is buzzing about his story, a far more pressing issue has emerged-a heartbreaking case involving four Black kids mistreated by their foster parents, subjected to forced labor and inhumane conditions.
Key points we'll cover include:
The rise of the Pop the Balloon Guy and the controversy surrounding his firing.
The disturbing case of the four Black children and the horrific conditions they endured.
A critical examination of why media and public attention are often diverted to sensational stories rather than focusing on crucial societal issues.
The role of media focus and our collective responsibility to prioritize and address issues that impact the lives of our children and communities.
Join me as I contrast the viral fame of the Pop the Balloon Guy with the severe and urgent problems facing vulnerable children. We'll discuss the reasons behind our misplaced priorities and the importance of shifting our focus to issues that truly matter.

Black men say black women are not worth protecting. They say they don't gain anything from marriage. Black women should get their education to get a house or give themselves the lifestyle they want. Black women cant sit around waiting on black men to put them in a house or marry them.

A few things - interesting that the pictures of modern black women who married interracially were dark skinned. In real life, those BW had comments about how badly they were treated. Eartha Kitt specifically talked about her black male contemporaries who did not want to be with her, and preferred white women. These are the BW you mentioned in the video, not characters in a movie. So I would loose a question - are these women picking men for status or are they picking the men who wanted them? And IF Black women are picking white men for the sole reason of class mobility, are they pathological for doing this? If every other race of woman before 2015 was making this choice, and BW held out for this long, what does that mean?

To be fair, I think the point is moreso that telling black women to avoid dating white men due to the history of trafficking is odd when black men historically and currently traffick BW. I think maybe Karazin was referring to trafficking of African women BEFORE the Atlantic slave trade. There was no African identity back then, so the concept of “our people” was specific to the tribe not the skin tone. It is not out of the question to say SOME (not even the majority) had no love lost or kinship with their warring tribes. That said. The question in general you asked is odd. “Is dating a white man empowering” implies that a specific man’s race can give you power and that BW who date men of other races want power, not love. Don’t have enough evidence to suggest that historically for this population. It’s even more disturbing in general that so many women today are seeing BW’s choices and scrutinizing them based on power plays. It’s that critical race theory stuff y’all do to characterize everyone’s motivations through the lens of power and control. And I don’t particularly enjoy that, as most folks just are traumatized and want security in an unstable existence. Anywho. The “who should BW date” conversation should be retired for the forseeable future. We aren’t slaves, we have the ability to choose

Im from Shreveport but did middle and highschool in Los Angeles (Go Romans!!) Anway, the majority of adults in my life who were Black had Black spouses or partners. There was a small lortion of Black men and women who dated out. However, highschoo (Class Of 2000) for me was different than what I saw outside of it. The Black boys were NOT into Black girls like that unless they were light skinned, biracial or other. They were definitely cool with me but not checking for me like that and this was the norm, at least at LA Highschool. Now my time at Crenshaw was vastly different, so I think a big portion of it depended on where you were in Southern Cal. Now, once I left Tuskegee University everything I had known and believed as a little girl was confirmed. Black men are attracted to and love Blqck women. However, the thing I experienced in Los Angeles was also the experience of a lot of my guys friends (mainly the dark skinned ones) so hey, in the words of a great pimp (as my husbad describes him😂😂) "likes the ones that likes you"❤️

As an African I used to think whenever I would see the news about how black Americans where not responsible when it comes to giving birth without stable homes or marriage to begin with I used to think it was propaganda to make the world hate black people but seeing mostly black Americans men proudly always putting down their women and always needing a woman to do 50/50 with them to avoid the responsibility of being a provider but while getting all the perks of it and also the women who keep entertaining this kind of behavior just because you can get a check from government or child support made me sad Africa isn’t perfect and the systems here don’t work at all that’s why here as a woman you can only marry a man when he is financially stable because nothing here is free there is no credit to borrow from every thing is paid in cash no free schools or school loans you can’t afford it in cash you can’t study so it pushes women and men to be careful in who they produce in that’s why here the men with the most most women are financially providing for them because society doesn’t encourage single mother hood

We are unfortunately easily entertained because it takes us away from our reality. It's stressful out there and we seek outlets to forget.....whether it's drugs, entertainment, joining a gang to feel a part of something, sports.....AND yes youtube and instagram are popular with us.

Interracial partnering is not empowering to bw because white men are perfect. It can be empowering to date outside your race because it increases your dating options. It is disempowering to limit yourself to your own race of men, when those men are not limiting themselves to you.

Now allow me to argue the other. Since integration began there were efforts to improve our numbers in news rooms. In hopes OUR stories would be covered. Or news outlets we controlled would get some traction through Affirmative Action efforts. However at this late date, none of this has panned out. Not only have such efforts been given up on, even this is no longer reported. When a few have been close to owning and controlling major media (Bill Cosby) all of a sudden strange things start to happen. I just heard from Black people who live near where this happened. It was on the local news one night at the time. While never being aired by major media. Keeping it from those among US who would have cared. Paid attention and spread this news. We continue to be robbed of a full American life. By being kept in our "perpetual recession". Making way too many among US susceptible to anti-Black crimes like THIS. Reparations NOW! Enforced Protections NOW!

I disagree as much as I hate to say it though, I appreciate the approach, it's important. So long as there is a community.. The dating show is showing us who we really are when it comes to what we value and the views confirm it. If we cared about the right qualities and prioritized black love in general. We would feel like the community is worth defending. It's hard to tend to a village that doesn't exist. It starts with love, then culture, then love for the culture to make someone defend it. We gotta give ourselves real and genuine reasons to love each other and the fruits of it (our children). All the hype from the marches, support black and buy black all of that was cap and our values show it, no one can take us seriously and I'm not mad at em rn tbh. We thought we were Kendrick back then but deep down we really on some Drake ish
